My Homeschool Hi-Light - The Scarlet Pimpernel

This past week, my son and I listened to The Scarlet Pimpernel at LibroVox. They have many classical audio books available for free. We listened as the Scarlet Pimpernel, and his group, rescued aristocrats during the Reign of Terror after the French Revolution. I had not realized how much I was going to learn about this time period. The reader did a wonderful job with the English and French accents. Listening to the Scarlet Pimpernel was definitely a homeschool hi-light this week.

Listening to this story motivated us to read and learn more about The French Revolution online. We also watched some Online Travel Videos about France. I wonder if there is a chance that I could interest him in listening to A Tale of Two Cities next. That may be pushing it.

I really enjoy hanging out with my 14 year old son. We also enjoy watching History and Science TV shows together. There are only 3 more years until he goes off to college. (boo hoo.)

Wow, time sure flies! It's great to make memories with the kids, reading or listening to books together. Our highlight was finishing school this past week.

Don't you love Librivox? "The Scarlet Pimpernel" is a favorite book of mine too! I tried to get the kids to listen to an audio book of "A Tale of Two Cities," but it didn't go over well - maybe they're a bit too young to appreciate it. :-)
